Date Rape Drugs: Rohypnol

A troubled teen may be the victim of rohypnol

Some teenagers may use Rohypnol as a recreation drug, to help them relax, but it is actually most often a teen drug use subject for date rape. Date rape drugs are getting a little more play as another semester starts. It is important to note that many teenagers, many who would not fall into the category of troubled teen, find themselves victims of date rape drugs like Rohypnol. And Rohypnol is especially attractive to predators because it has the ability to bestow amnesia on the victim. Which means the victim would be completely impaired and then, likely as not, be unable to clearly remember the assault.

Dangers of Rohypnol

Teen drug use of Rohypnol as a date rape drug is facilitated by the fact that it dissolves in any liquid, including carbonated beverages, and that it can be enhanced by alcohol. Additionally, this date rape drug is tasteless and odorless, so it is impossible to detect in a drink. Teenagers should be warned to watch their drinks at all times, avoid the punch bowl, and do not accept anything that is open.
